MUSKEGON, Mich. — A man accused of killing a woman more than 34 years ago was formally arraigned on Wednesday.

Darick Anderson entered a not guilty plea for the murder of Talfrieda Covington.

This formal arraignment comes less than a month after he was charged by the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s office for the death of Covington.

Convington was stabbed to death in 1991 when she was 28 years old and pregnant in Muskegon.

Anderson, who’s charged with open murder and perjury, appeared virtually in court because he is currently in custody for a 2008 double homicide.

He received a $500,000 bond for the perjury charge, and no bond for the murder charge.

His probable cause hearing is set for Oct. 28 and his preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 4.
