Having lost 31-24 in overtime, the bumps and bruises of a rivalry loss were apparent as Pitt walked off the field at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, W.Va., two weeks ago. Two starting cornerbacks were in street clothes all afternoon. Multiple starters went down with injuries of varying degrees throughout the game. Star linebacker Kyle Louis limped off the field, down the tunnel and back to the locker room, nursing an ailment in his lower body.

After the game, Mountaineers coach Rich Rodriguez expressed some sarcastic concern for the health and safety of the many Pitt defenders who found themselves down on the turf after enduring 85 total plays in regulation and a short overtime. The unit got a week off before playing another 92 against Louisville.
