CLEVELAND — The Detroit Tigers squandered so many chances.

There was a chance for the Tigers to advance in the MLB playoffs, but the lack of clutch hitting let the Cleveland Guardians hang around long enough to force Game 3 in the best-of-three American League wild-card series.

The Tigers lost, 6-1, to the Guardians on Wednesday, Oct. 1, in Game 2 at Progressive Field. The Guardians scored five runs in the eighth inning, including four runs charged to right-handed reliever Troy Melton.
