NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV) - Nebraska Congressman Mike Flood hopes lawmakers can make progress to end the government shutdown by the weekend.
Talking with reporters, Wednesday afternoon, the Republican said his office is prepared for the shutdown to go on “a long time.”
USA Today reports there are more than 10,000 federal employees working in Nebraska, and President Donald Trump has suggested using the shutdown as a way to permanently reduce the federal workforce. That worries Congressman Flood. “It’s my job as a representative of the first district to communicate the importance of our food inspectors, to communicate the importance of our airmen at Offutt Air Force Base in Strategic Command that oversees the nuclear triad,” said Rep. Mike Flood, (R) Nebraska. “Obviously, they perform a very im
