LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Multiple federal agencies and an official have expressed their reactions in response to the government shutdown .

The United States Postal Service (USPS) announced that it will continue its normal operations and emphasized that its funding comes from the sale of products, not from the federal government.

In contrast, the Social Security Administration has stated that its customer service operations will be affected. According to a statement , some services that assist recipients will be suspended. However, individuals can still expect to receive their Social Security checks as usual for the time being.

Meanwhile, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar has announced that he will not accept his congressional paycheck during the government shutdown.
