JEFFERSON CITY — A movie being filmed in Jefferson City is taking advantage of the Missouri film tax credit program, which was revived through a 2023 law.

After a 10-year hiatus for the program, filmmakers can get 20% to 42% back on qualified production expenses. Since the law went into effect, crews have come to Missouri to film their movies.

One of those filmmakers is Cole Payne, a film producer for the movie "Trivia Night Mysteries: Question of Murder," which is currently being produced in Jefferson City. Payne and his crew received the full 42% back on the qualified in-state spending.

Payne, a Missouri native, said the incentive helped decide where to film the movie.

"I wouldn't have been able to film it here in Missouri, even though I'm from here and I live here," Payne said. "I j
