Authorities have captured a convicted murderer days after he was mistakenly released from Miami-Dade jail.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, along with the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service, announced Wednesday that James Edward Daniels was recaptured at a residence in Macon, Georgia.

U.S. Marshals took Daniels into custody without incident, MDCSO said.

Daniels was mistakenly released from jail on Saturday, when officials with the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department said a "procedural error" led to his release from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, also known as TGK.

The 60-year-old in March was sentenced to life in prison by a federal judge following his conviction in a 2020 double murder in Miami-Dade .
