Wichita police officer crashes into brick wall, avoids serious injury

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A Wichita police patrol vehicle crashed into a brick wall on Wednesday morning.

A patrol officer was driving south on Broadway, heading to provide backup for another officer. As the officer approached the Afton Motel at 800 S. Broadway, police said a sedan without its headlights on turned in front of the patrol vehicle.

To avoid a crash, police said the officer drove onto the sidewalk and hit a brick wall. A 12 News viewer sent in a photo of the patrol vehicle on its side after hitting the wall.

As a precaution, the officer underwent a medical evaluation, police said.
