TEMPLE, Texas — The Wilson Recreation Center will continue to host events and serve the public despite an ongoing rat infestation, the City of Temple says. Megan Price, Public Relations Coordinator for the City of Temple, acknowledged that city officials have been aware of the rodent problem for approximately one month and are actively working with a contractor to address the situation.
"The city is aware of the issue at Wilson Rec," Price said. "We have a contractor who is also working on it, and we've captured about 20 rats so far."
The extent of the infestation remains unclear, as Price said she did not have an estimate for how many rats might still be present in the facility. However, she emphasized that the center will remain operational while extermination efforts continue.
