LORDSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) - This Hometown Hero has been rocking since the 1970s, and now he's become a rock for cancer patients.
Chuck Gisewhite is a rocker. He's also got a big heart.
When his mother battled cancer, he was inspired by the care she received at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren. He decided to do something about it.
"I don't know, it's just one of them things. I wanted to do something. I wanted it to be special and I wanted it to matter," Gisewhite said.
The Rock for Care event was born. Local bands perform for a day of music and fundraising.
When Gisewhite told the hospital he had a donation for them seven years ago, they scrambled to create a program to place the money into a fund. They called it the Care Closet.
