LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Jefferson County Public Schools superintendent Dr. Brian Yearwood has changed direction on an audit plan to help the district solve its budget crisis.
At a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Dr. Yearwood announced the Jefferson County Board of Education (BoE) would be voting later that night on a contract with public accounting firm Dean Dorton. The firm would be in charge of advising Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) on financial decisions as the district works to overcome a $188 million budget deficit.
“This individual (Dean Dorton) was selected because of their experience in the past and they’re a very reputable company that would be able to give us the information we need to make the decisions going forward,” Dr. Yearwood explained during the press conf
