MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A judge has ruled that toxicology results may be used in a deadly DUI case that claimed the life of a good Samaritan, the Shelby County District Attorney's Office says.
Michael King, 43, was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Driving while license suspended, Financial Responsibility, and Public Intoxication.
The DA's office said on May 28, 2023, King crashed into a disabled vehicle on Lamar Ave near the Tennessee-Mississippi state line.
Good Samaritan Halie Ramirez, who stopped to help, was struck and later died from her injuries.
According to the D.A.'s office, King's blood test taken more than 6 hours after the crash showed a BAC of .053 and methamphetamine.
