SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Wednesday marks the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the American Cancer Society for the Greater Sacramento area is gearing up for its annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraising walk on October 12.

According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed among women in the United States.

Organizations throughout the Sacramento region, including the American Cancer Society, are actively fighting against those statistics.
