Barrington has a new superintendent.
The Barrington School Committee recently announced the appointment of Robert Mitchell as interim superintendent of schools. Wednesday, Oct. 1 was Mitchell’s first day on the job in Barrington.
According to a press release from the district, Mitchell has nearly 30 years of experience in educational leadership. He served as superintendent of schools in Cumberland, as well as assistant superintendent, principal, and assistant principal in multiple school districts in Rhode Island and Connecticut.
“During his tenure in Cumberland, the district rose into the top five statewide in RICAS performance and secured an $83 million school bond referendum, ensuring critical 21st-century learning upgrades,” stated the release.
“Barrington is one of Rhode Island’s
