PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A jury found a Peoria teen guilty of shooting and killing another man in June on Wednesday afternoon.
Lamar Cagel, 17, was found guilty of first degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm following a three-day trial.
On June 20, Peoria Police found 20-year-old Teron Scott Jr. shot dead inside a crashed car at Martin Luther King Jr. Park. Cagel and two others, Christopher Adams and Kamereon Bell, were arrested for the shooting.
According to the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office, during the trial, the jury viewed surveillance footage that showed Cagel driving recklessly to catch up to a car being driven by Scott. Gunfire soon came from the car Cagel was driving toward the victim’s car.
