TRENTON -- Multiple crews responded to a wildland fire in Trenton this afternoon.

According to the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department, crews were dispatched at 3:05 p.m. for a brush fire that was actively spreading on the Jordan River road.

The blaze spread rapidly, and eventually, air assistance was called in from the Maine Forest Service. No injuries occurred during the fire, but almost 4 acres of land had burned by the time the fire was contained at 4:21 p.m.

Firefighters say windy, dry conditions made the fire spread quickly, and they are taking the time to remind folks to be cautious about fire danger this fall.
