SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — As the federal government shutdown continues, travelers at Springfield-Branson National Airport are voicing concerns about how Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees are being affected.

Bob Kern, who was returning to Florida with his wife, said he only learned about the shutdown the night before his flight. While he wasn’t worried about the immediate impact, he said the situation could worsen if the standoff drags on.

“I feel that if it goes on for more than five days, then there’ll be problems,” Kern said. “I don’t think there’s going to be a problem the first day.”

Another traveler, Suzanne Brown, said she noticed signs of stress among TSA workers during her security screening.

“You can definitely see that they were not in a good mood today,” Brown
