HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Some Cy-Fair parents say changes to a longtime school tradition have left their children feeling excluded, particularly two special needs students who were part of the spirit group.

The Rowdies, a spirit group at Cypress Ranch High School, known for running Mustang flags at high school football games, was rebranded this year as the Ranch Hands. For Brady Smith and his best friend Seana Burris, both seniors with special needs, running the flags was a highlight of their high school experience.

"Excited," Seana said when asked how it made her feel to run across the field with the flag.
