LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - ONE Lexington Director, Devine Carama, says the east end community needs uplifting after 19-year-old Ja’Zarion Robinson was shot and killed on East Seventh Street .
“This is our third year in a row seeing our gun violence numbers come down, and we’ve made historical progress, but it really doesn’t matter when you see a 19-year-old lose their life,” Carama said.
Carama says the city has made progress in decreasing gun violence, but one homicide is too many.
“How do those numbers comfort a mother who just lost her son? They don’t,” Carama said.
He said when he heard about Tuesday evening’s shooting, he knew he needed to support those grieving Robinson.
