Drivers are being reminded to do the right thing, as double demerits come into effect ahead of the October long weekend.

Millions of Australians across four states and territories will hit the road over the extended three-day weekend to celebrate Labour Day or the Kings Birthday this Monday.

Police have warned drivers that officers will be out in force to ensure road users are safe and encouraged people to report motorists engaged in dangerous driving.
