VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — For the Palacios-Ramirez family, Krazy Trompos, located on 217 S. Rosemont Road, is more than flavor, it’s identity.

Maria Isabel Palacios Olivares arrived in the United States from Mexico in 1987 with her young daughter and a dream. For decades, she longed to open a restaurant.

“We always had this dream to start up a Mexican restaurant, but there was never any money,” Palacios said in Spanish. “It wasn’t until 2020 when my daughter and I decided, it’s either now or never.”

That decision led to a food truck, which quickly grew into Krazy Trompos, a family-owned Mexican restaurant in Virginia Beach known for its tacos, salsa and warmth.
