GUTTENBERG, Iowa (KWWL) -- Authorities have recovered the body of a man who apparently drowned in the Mississippi River late Wednesday morning.
Guttenberg police said, just before noon, they found an unoccupied flat bottom boat floating on the water near the Bussey Lake ramp.
Emergency crews began dragging operation after witnesses reported seeing someone in the water, who had gone under and didn't resurface.
With the help of Iowa Department of Resources sonar technology, crews pulled the body of a man from the water.
They identified the victim as a 79-year-old man from Cedar Rapids, but didn't immediately release his name.
