HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The City and County of Honolulu announced the completion of the Dillingham Boulevard Bridge Rehabilitation Project on Wednesday.
The city’s Department of Design and Construction (DDC) said the $1.5 million project finished two months ahead of schedule.
Officials said the project focused on long-term durability by emphasizing corrosion prevention and restoring the strength of the bridge.
Crews had been working since last April to restore the structural integrity of the bridge, which had been impacted by severe corrosion.
Work included demolishing and rebuilding the bridge railings with new reinforcement and concrete.
The city said that all reinforcing steel used in the project was coated with an anti-corrosion layer, while every batch of newly placed concrete
