ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - A man was sentenced to five years in the Colorado Department of Corrections for a deadly hit-and-run in Aurora.
According to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, the crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. on April 3 at the intersection of East Wesley Drive and East Caspian Circle.
Investigators determined Michael Graham-Hyde, 73, was speeding in an SUV westbound on East Wesley Drive when he lost control, hitting Alberto Buitrago, 65, and his dog, Nova, on the sidewalk.
The dog was killed instantly, the DA said. Buitrago was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The DA says Graham-Hyde left the scene after the crash and turned himself in to the Aurora Municipal Center several hours later. He reportedly admitted to investigators that
