CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A 22-year-old man is facing charges after he allegedly threw a firework at homeless people in Camp Washington.

Charles Mitchell, of Fairfield, was indicted by a Hamilton County Grand Jury on two counts of aggravated arson, according to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

The charges stem from an incident that took place Aug. 21, 2024, at an abandoned building on Colerain Avenue where two victims were sleeping under the shelter’s drive-thru.

Mitchell allegedly threw a canister-shell firework near where a man and woman were sleeping “for his own entertainment,” the prosecutor’s office wrote.

Both people escaped without injury.
