Newest candidate for state superintendent says he'll focus on teachers

The chairman of the Oklahoma Senate Education Committee says he will run to become state superintendent of public instruction.

State Sen. Adam Pugh, R-Edmond, announced his candidacy on Thursday, Oct. 2 with an event at the Oklahoma History Center. Pugh will the fourth Republican, and the seventh person overall , to file for the office, which oversees the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
