PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. — The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a missing woman.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 911 dispatchers got a call about a fire at a home in the 6200 block of East County Road 600 North in Bainbridge, Indiana, which is approximately 35 miles west of downtown Indianapolis.

Deputies said smoke was seen coming from the home, and nobody was found inside.

During the investigation, deputies learned 46-year-old Britney Gard owned the home and was last seen or heard from shortly before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Deputies said all attempts to try to contact Gard have been unsuccessful.

Gard is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighs 140 pounds and has long black hair. A clothing description was not provided.
