DELAWARE COUNTY, Indiana — A Delaware County man was convicted Thursday of shaking an infant causing catastrophic injury following just two hours of jury deliberation.

According to a release from the Delaware County Prosecutor's Office, on Oct. 2 Andrew M. Scott, 23, was found guilty of neglect of a dependent causing catastrophic injury, a Level 1 felony.

Court documents say that around 4:03 p.m. on March 17, 2022, the Gaston Police Department was called to a residence on a report of an unconscious child.

An 18-month-old child was taken to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie for medical treatment before being transported by helicopter to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis for life-threatening injuries, according to court documents.
