AUGUSTA, Ga. —

A deputy and suspect were injured after exchanging gunfire behind the construction site of a Chipotle in Augusta, Georgia, early Thursday morning. Additionally, a suspect is in custody and two others are still at large after an armed robbery.

Just before 12:40 a.m. Thursday, a 911 call came in about an armed robbery at the BP gas station at 3011 Washington Road. The caller reported being robbed at gunpoint by multiple suspects.

Deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff's Office responded and gathered information. Deputy Victor Rodriguez spotted a man near the Interstate 20 overpass, who matched the suspect's description.

The man, who was later identified as Dalyn Dewayne Elder, took off running toward the Waffle House nearby.
