Mets outfielder Starling Marte probably won’t be back in Queens next season. Still, the veteran made sure fans knew how much their support meant to him.

On Wednesday night, Marte wrote a heartfelt farewell on Instagram after a year in which he quietly became one of the club’s most reliable bats and mentors. His four-year, $78 million deal expires at the end of the postseason, making him an unrestricted free agent.
