GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Pulaski Days is officially underway in Grand Rapids with many Polish halls set to participate in celebrations Thursday night.
Teams of volunteers have been busy preparing food for the event, which celebrates Polish heritage and raises funds for the clubs.
St. Ladislaus Aid Society is preparing to serve about 1,000 people over the course of the weekend. Debbie Schultz, the president of the hall, said it takes a team of volunteers to make it happen.
“Making the kapusta that takes a couple hours. We have our famous mushrooms that I think we’re probably the only hall that has them. Those take like 18 hours to do, so there’s a lot of preparation that goes into what we do,” Schultz said.
The hall has been stocking up on supplies and rents a refrigerated truck to
