GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A venue at this year's ArtPrize features more than a dozen pieces of artwork all made by women.
This is Zeal Aerial Fitness' first year as an ArtPrize venue after it moved into its new space at 131 Caledonia Ave. near Plainfield Avenue earlier this year. As owner Christina VanDam was looking for artists to host inside her space, she said she was looking for women who "all stand for something very close to their hearts."
"I was looking more for the artist, not the art," she said. "The passion from the artists is really what spoke to me the most and the pieces just sort of fell into place."
As ArtPrizegoers walk into the studio, they'll see Body of Work, an installation by Nan Nickson that includes both knitted pieces and posters she has created for U.S. Immig
