ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) — A federal judge is allowing a couple's lawsuit against Rockford Public Schools to move forward.
Dan and Jennifer Mead allege that school employees hid information about their child, who is biologically female and identifies as male, after their child asked the school to use a masculine name and pronouns. They also allege the district used male pronouns for their child without their knowledge.
The couple filed the lawsuit in 2023, saying the district violated their constitutional rights.
On Sept. 18, the court granted in part, and denied in part, the school district's motion to dismiss the lawsuit.
