Urban Barn has reworked its Blanket the Country charity campaign to include local community empowerment.

The national furniture and decor retailer has fine-tuned its annual charitable initiative by partnering with local charities in each of the communities where it does business, including in Kingston.

Since 2012, the Canadian-owned and operated chain has supported food banks, shelters, counselling centres and other essential services nationwide.

What makes this year’s campaign different is a shifting focus on 37 local nonprofit organizations. The hope is to ensure support goes where it’s needed most.
