The Orionid meteor shower has returned to the night sky, bringing one of the most beautiful annual celestial shows. Expect streaks of light, the occasional fireball, and a chance to see the remnants of a legendary visitor: Halley’s Comet.

Every October, Earth moves directly through a trail of cosmic debris left behind by Halley’s Comet. Although the comet itself won’t return until 2061, the bits it left behind are still hanging out in space.
