BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) - A new facility in Manatee County will offer not only shelter to women in crisis but also provide essential services, all under one roof.
Under One Roof Gateway South opened Wednesday, marked by a ribbon cutting and community open house. The new shelter will provide women dealing with addiction, homelessness and trauma with safe housing and access to recovery support.
The shelter, at 407 57th Avenue East is in an extensively renovated building once used by the Sheriff’s Office. It has beds for up to 40 women, with meeting rooms for counseling, case management and recovery services.
Helping Up Mission, a nonprofit with experience creating similar centers in Baltimore, will manage the daily operation.
“Under One Roof represents what is best about this community,”
