AKRON, Ohio – A Summit County grand jury Thursday declined to charge an Akron police officer who fatally shot a teenager on Thanksgiving.
An attorney for the family of Jazmir Tucker, a 15-year-old freshman at North High School, said officer Davon Fields was cleared of charges in the incident.
“I’m upset for the family and the community, as there was no accountability in this incident,” said Stanley Jackson, an attorney for Tucker’s family.
An official in the office of the Summit County Clerk of Courts said the grand jury returned a no-bill on one count of murder against Fields.
Earlier this year, Summit County officials turned the case over to Mahoning County prosecutors to handle after a state investigation.
