BAY CITY, MI — It’s been two weeks since police arrested a Bay City man when they seized nearly 19 kilos in illegal drugs. Though he remains in jail, he’s not been charged with a crime related to the substantial drug bust.

Bay County Prosecutor Michael P. Kanuszewski confirmed his office has not charged the 27-year-old man as federal officials have expressed an interest in taking the case. The man is being held in the Bay County Jail without bond, both for violating probation and on a firearm-related felony predating his most recent arrest on Sept. 18.

About 9:30 p.m. on that day, the Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team (BAYANET) served a warrant on a residence in the 900 block of 16th Street in Bay City’s South End. BAYANET personnel had been surveilling the house earlier in the day and
