LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky Police Department said they are responding to calls quicker than ever before thanks to technology.
Inside the UK Police Department headquarters sits the Security Operations Center. Campus safety is constantly monitored by the department, which has a network of 5,000 cameras, drones and body cameras on field officers. Chief Joe Monroe said it’s a trend in law enforcement.
“More law enforcement agencies across the country are embracing technology. They’re starting to understand that technology can help them in their response,” Monroe said.
The technology is brand new to UKPD, with some features the Lexington Police Department doesn’t even have. Chief Monroe called it a game changer in solving crimes from sexual assaults, burglaries or shooting
