OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen has appointed James Buchanan of Omaha as county court judge in the Second Judicial District as of Thursday.

“Buchanan has had his own law practice in Nebraska for over 20 years, focusing on areas of domestic litigation involving paternity, custody, child support, adoption, estate planning and other related areas,” a statement from Pillen’s office reads.

Prior to opening his own practice in Papillion, he practiced law in Iowa for two years.

The vacancy in the Second Judicial District was caused by Judge PaTricia Freeman’s appointment to the Nebraska Court of Appeals.
