ST. LOUIS - According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, more than 93% of Missouri is considered "abnormally dry" as October begins.

No areas of the state are in an "extreme" or "exceptional" drought status, but a drought alert remains in effect for the state, following prolonged stretches of limited rainfall.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources asks residents to report local drought conditions to help state and federal officials accurately assess conditions daily.
