NEWARK - Carole Johnson, a former New Jersey Cabinet member responsible for Medicaid and Social Services improvement, will become the new president and CEO of University Hospital.
University Hospital, a 500-bed academic medical center in Newark, announced on Tuesday, Sept. 30, that Johnson will take the helm of New Jersey’s only public academic medical center and the only state-designated Level I Trauma Center for Northern New Jersey.
She replaces Dr. Kaitlan Baston, who left her post as the state Department of Health Commissioner to become the hospital’s interim president and CEO in May.
