UPDATE: James Graves, an 84-year-old that had been missing from Cumberland County since April, is dead, the TBI says.

Skeletal remains found in a remote wooded area of Bledsoe County on Sept. 24 have been confirmed to be his.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says after finding the remains in the Luminary Mountain region, the Tennessee Medical Examiner's Office in Nashville positively identified him through dental records.

Graves, last seen driving a red Chevy Silverado, had a medical condition that may have impaired him from returning safely.

"Our thoughts are with those who knew and loved him," TBI said in an X post.

Sheriff Casey Cox, on behalf of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, extended their condolences to the Graves family.
