MECCA TWP., Ohio (WKBN) -- A Trumbull County bar and restaurant under new ownership is hosting a mural competition.

Ten artists are participating in the contest at The Local in Mecca.

The murals will celebrate themes of lake life, boating and Trumbull County.

The artists have until the end of the month to complete their artwork in what will become the Community Mural Hallway.

Wenona Hermann took over ownership of the bar in July. She says she had help coming up with the idea for the contest to make her vision a reality.

"I always looked at bars and restaurants for the last few years, and El Hefe, it's actually in Hubbard, they have beautiful murals in their buildings. So, I was like, 'How can I have that in my building?'" Hermann said.
