CLEVELAND. (WILX) - Detroit’s offense came to life on Thursday afternoon in Cleveland, and the Tigers took the series with a 6-3 victory over the Guardians in Game 3 of the AL Wild Card series.
It was scoreless in the third until Kerry Carpenter doubled to bring in Parker Meadows and give Detroit a 1-0 lead. Cleveland tied it on a José Ramírez RBI single in the fourth.
It stayed that way until the sixth inning, when the Tigers’ catcher hit a solo shot to center to give Detroit a 2-1 lead.
It was the Tigers with a four-run seventh inning, with Wenceel Pérez, Spencer Torkelson, and Riley Greene all having hits that brought in runs to give Detroit a 6-1 lead.
Will Vest committed an error in the 8th inning that allowed two runs to score to cut Detroit’s lead to 6-3. Vest then closed it out
