OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WATE) — Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer diagnosed among women in the U.S, making awareness and early detection more important than ever. For one East Tennessee radiologist her personal battle gave new depth to her work.

Lindsay Luttrell M.D. a radiologist at the Covenant Health Oak Ridge Breast Center has been passionate about radiology for years, but five years ago, she found herself as the patient.

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Many of them turn to doctors like Lindsey Luttrell.

“Screening mammography does save lives, and it allows us to see really tiny breast cancers. Here's a screening mammogram and you see we're just able to see all of the breast tissue here,” explained Luttrell while showing a mammogram
