Dozens of worshippers flood out of a synagogue on Bury Old Road.

Dressed in their traditional garb, one hand clutches a prayer book and the other is used to shield themselves from the rain or to hold the hand of a loved one.

Many hurriedly made their way home. Most were in a rush to cook after hours of fasting, while others did not want to be out on the streets any longer than they needed to be.

Just a few miles around the corner horror was unleashed on people who looked just like them.

The congregation belonged to the Holy Law Shul, which was one of many local temples that was immediately locked down after a suspected terror attack took place at the Heaton Congregation Synagogue on Middleton Road in Crumpsall.
