WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Kansas Humane Society (KHS) is asking for the public’s help to cover costs for a wounded dog’s surgery.

The German Shepard named Trigger was “another unfortunate soul who was shot by an unknown assailant and came to our neighbors at the Wichita Animal Shelter earlier this month,” KHS said in a Facebook post about Trigger and his injury.

The humane society said that the inflammation on his injured front leg “was so bad when he arrived at the Wichita Animal Shelter that [they] couldn’t perform his amputation surgery when he came over to KHS.”

The humane society said that a rescue coordinator’s family fell in love with Trigger, and that after fostering him, the family decided to adopt the German Shepard.
