MARLBOROUGH, Conn. (WTNH) -- Walking around Marlborough is going to get easier and safer, thanks to a state-funded project.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced that the town of Marlborough will get 330 linear feet of new sidewalk as well as a crosswalk on Lake Road as part of the department's 2025 Transportation Rural Improvement Program (TRIP).

The $341,179 project will connect Lake Road to the town's existing North Main Street pedestrian network and link Blish Park to Marlborough Elementary School through the town center.

This project is one of the eight across Connecticut to be funded by the $10 million TRIP initiative, which supports infrastructure projects in rural areas of the state that are often overlooked by federal aid programs.
