(Cleveland)- Much of Northeast Georgia, including White County, is now suffering from abnormally dry conditions. The U.S. Drought Monitor’s latest report, issued Thursday, October 2, shows all of Dawson, Barrow, Jackson, Banks, and Stephens counties are under “abnormally dry” status, as well as most of Hall, Habersham, Lumpkin, and White counties.

Rabun, Towns, and Union counties are not under any drought status at this time.

A statement from the National Weather Service on Thursday afternoon said the dry conditions are expected to continue for at least the next few days. “Most of Georgia has received less than 50% of its average rainfall over the last 30 days,” the weather service said. “Dry conditions will continue through the weekend, with rain chances returning Sunday afternoon into
